Ubong Charles Bassey is a commercial lawyer and Partner at Baseline Attorneys,
advising businesses, investors and institutions on complex commercial, regulatory and contentious matters.
He has extensive experience in commercial litigation, regulatory disputes,
corporate and commercial advisory, employment and gaming law, with particular expertise in matters involving
significant commercial interests and highly regulated industries.
Prior to founding Baseline Attorneys, Ubong was a Senior Associate and Team Lead
in the Litigation & Regulatory practice of DLA Piper Africa, Nigeria, where he led teams advising and
representing leading Nigerian and international businesses in complex disputes and regulatory matters across
sectors including technology, consumer goods, energy and infrastructure. His experience includes significant
commercial disputes, regulatory proceedings and strategic litigation, as well as managing contentious portfolios
for major corporate clients.
At Baseline, he advises entrepreneurs, growth-stage companies and established businesses on commercial
transactions, joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, corporate governance, regulatory strategy and dispute
resolution. He also has substantial experience in Nigeria’s gaming and lotteries sector, advising operators and
regulators on licensing, market entry, regulatory compliance and disputes arising from the evolving legal
framework governing the industry.
Ubong is particularly focused on matters where legal, regulatory and commercial considerations intersect. His
approach combines rigorous legal analysis with a practical understanding of the client’s business, with a focus
